Dior has joined forces with Japanese artist Otani Workshop for an illustrative capsule of whimsical, character-covered wares. The famed contemporary sculptor created a small ceramic green monster named Tanilla for the collaboration — and the smiley little beast becomes the collection’s hero across all sorts of joint garments.

The petite creature boldly claims refined sweaters in an oversized fashion and more quietly lands on an array of bomber jackets and short-sleeved T-shirts. Additionally, the playful critter adorns the new B33 tennis sneakers, as well as a number of handheld accessories.

Otani’s Tanilla mirrors Dior’s classic signifiers, including the Dior Oblique Toile, which arrives in vibrant burgundy and pink shades, as well as a scribbled take on the traditional Dior lettering. The “Christian Dior Couture” tag also dresses a number of slouchy trousers.

Otani Workshop has long held the reins among ceramic creators in Japan. He’s known for his distinct ability to parlay traditional artistic techniques into contemporary practices — a skill which he has cleverly fused into this latest Dior collaboration.

Dior’s Otani Workshop collection will arrive in boutiques and on the brand’s webstore on January 4. Take a closer look at the range in the gallery above.
