Best New Tracks: Yung Lean, Mariah The Scientist, Yeat, and More
A whole lotta new music for your weekend.
Albums come from Yung Lean and Key Glock, with EPs landing from Bladee and Flume x JPEGMAFIA.
Singles, on the other hand, stem from Maxo, Turnstile, Don Toliver x Doja Cat, Quavo x Takeoff, Yeat, A$AP Nast, Mariah The Scientist, BIA, MIKE x Tony Seltzer, Aminé, Westside Gunn x Doechii and Rico Nasty.
Yung Lean – Jonatan
The ever-so elusive Yung Lean has unearthed his most personal project to date. Entitled Jonatan, after his birth name, the project follows up Starz (2020), spans 13 tracks, and no features.
Key Glock – Glockaveli
Similarly, Key Glock also revealed what he’s deeming his most personal project. The rapper has revealed Glockaveli – another fully featureless endeavor that rounds out at 18 songs.
Flume x JPEGMAFIA – We Live In A Society
When Flume and JPEGMAFIA dropped “Track 1” on a random weekday last week, no one really knew what was in store from the “How To Build A Relationship” collaborators. The pair has connected for a four-track EP entitled We Live In A Society, which also sees contributions from Ravyn Lenae.
Don Toliver x Doja Cat – “Lose My Mind”
The first cut lifted from the F1: The Movie soundtrack has surfaced, and it’s a high-octane, hypnotic offering from the likes of Don Toliver and Doja Cat. The pair have effortless chemistry on the first of many collaborative tracks set to come from the film’s star-studded soundtrack.
Maxo – Human ?
Maxo has made his triumphant return with “Human ?,” his first single since 2023, when he dropped Debbie’s Son which featured Zelooperz.
Quavo x Takeoff – “Dope Boy Phone”
Quavo has offered up one of the “thousands” of unreleased songs he created with his late nephew and Migos member, Takeoff. The latest in the lineup is “Dope Boy Phone.”
Westside Gunn x Doechii – “EGYPT” Remix
One of the best last-minute collabs we didn’t know we needed. Westside Gunn took to Instagram on Thursday to announce he and The Swamp Princess had some sort of collab cooking up; the next day, we were blessed with the remix to “EGYPT” off the Griselda rapper’s most recent project.
Turnstile – “SEEIN’ STARS” / “BIRDS”
Turnstile continues to craft their next LP, unveiling a slate of two new singles in preparation. Two-pack “SEEIN’ STARS / BIRDS” also comes with a cinematic music video, with the first of the two also featuring backing vocals from Dev Hynes and Hayley Williams.
Yeat – “Feël No Wayz (Yeat mix)”
After debuting the remix of Drake’s classic cut during his first-ever Coachella set, Yeat has officially dropped off the full version of his take on The Boy’s “Feel No Ways” – stylized as “Feël No Wayz (Yeat Mix).”
Samara Cyn – “Bad Brain”
On the heels of her Ovrkast. collab “Small Talk,” rising Samara Cyn has delivered a solo single of her own. “Bad Brain” follows up March’s “Pop n Olive” and her debut project from 2024, The Drive Home.
A$AP Nast – “No Hammer”
Gearing up for the release of his debut album, A$AP Nast has shared “No Hammer,” his first on-streaming studio release since “Designer Boi,” from 2020.
Mariah The Scientist – “Burning Blue”
Mariah The Scientist has made her ethereal return to the music scene with “Burning Blue,” her first solo single since 2023’s To Be Eaten Alive. In recent years the soulful songstress has hopped on as a featured artist, but her solo return has been long-awaited.
BIA – “WE ON GO”
The soundtrack to the WNBA and NCAA Women’s Final Four, BIA’s anthemic “WE ON GO,” has finally landed an official studio release.
MIKE x Tony Seltzer – “WYC4”
Following up on the pair’s “Prezzy,” which marked the first single of Pinball 2, rapper/producer powerhouse duo MIKE and Tony Seltzer has presented the second single from the anticipated sequel project, a cut dubbed “WYC4.”
Aminé – “Vacay”
Another solid Aminé single finds its way into this week’s Best New Tracks. The latest single pulled from the project is the third so far, arriving on the heels of “Familiar” and “Arc de Triomphe.”
Rico Nasty – “BUTTERFLY KISSES” x “CAN’T WIN EM ALL”
Rico is on go mode. As her rage-meets-rap LETHAL release date nears, the DMV-bred musician dropped off another set of singles lifted from the LP: “BUTTERFLY KISSES” and “CAN’T WIN EM ALL,” which also arrive along with a two-part music video.
Bladee – Ste The Beautiful Martyr 1st Attempt
In the middle of the week, Bladee lifted the veil on a surprise new project entitled Ste The Beautiful Martyr 1st Attempt. The EP spans three new tracks and visuals.
