Matty Matheson Teams Up with Gozney to Design His Very Own Portable Pizza Oven

Between running a restaurant empire, starring in the Emmy Award-winning series The Bear – set to premiere its fourth season later this month – and getting swept up in the GTA VI rumor mill, with reports suggesting he’ll be a playable character, it’s safe to say Matty Matheson keeps busy.

For his latest project, the Canadian cook and all-round cool guy has teamed up with the viral outdoor cooking brand Gozney to design his very own pizza oven – and the result is both appetizingly fun and unmistakably Matty.

Started in 2010 by its eponymous founder, Gozney’s popularity has boomed in recent years thanks to fan-made videos that have racked up millions of views on social media. But Matheson’s relationship with the British brand goes back over 10 years and, in a post teasing the collaboration on his Instagram, he said the project was “a decade in the making.”

The collaboration sees the multi-hyphenate put his personal touch on one of Gozney’s most popular products, the Tread, a model the brand describes as “hyper-portable” and “ultra-rugged” and one that stars in many of the viral videos found online. The limited-edition Matty Matheson Signature Tread arrives in a signature “Matty orange” colorway and features illustrations of a “nostalgic cartoon world” – Matty’s World – engraved onto its stainless steel exterior. The fun, lighthearted scene that adorns Matheson’s take on the “world’s most portable pizza oven” was created by Chris Wilson, one of his longtime collaborators.

Powered by propane, the Matty Matheson Signature Tread is small but mighty oven that’s equally at home in your garden as it is in the back of your car. It weighs less than 30lbs and has a compact form factor that measures 12.6-inches high, 16.5-inches wide and 19.1-inches deep. Additionally, Gozney offers several accessories for the Tread including a travel bag made from rugged nylon and reinforced on both the top and bottom and a quad-legged telescopic stand with die-cast aluminum legs that fold down for portability among others – in all of these, the brand’s considered approach to design is clear, from its choice of materials to the functionality (and sometimes modularity) of each item.

Matheson, who also fronts Gozney’s current “Cook Different” campaign, said: “Me and Tom Gozney go way back – imagine two great minds mashed into one great thing.” Tom Gozney, the brand’s founder, added that the collaboration “felt natural” and “honestly overdue”, and described the new product as being “loud, bold, full of personality [...] while still delivering the world-class quality we’re known for.”
