Fielding Miller wants to fill the gaps in the athletic headwear market. His newly launched brand, Thurston, is inspired by snowboarding and skiing pieces that he wishes had existed.

After years of developing designs at Polartec, people began asking Miller for them. “So I had a run made to give to friends, which validated some concepts and inspired me,” he said. “Realizing no one is focused on creating the most premium-quality performance headwear, especially in a way I want to wear casually as well, I decided to pursue it as a business.” As a result, Thurston was born.

Thurston’s debut collection, which took four years to develop, consists of a balaclava, skull cap, beanie, and alpine hat. The pieces are made with Polartec® Power Wool™ and Wind Pro® fabric technologies that supply 4x more wind resistance while strengthening the warmth of the natural materials.

Minimal in design and color palette, the collection presents an elevated take on traditional headwear. The designs are available in various shades of icy grey, black, and white. Exposed contrasting stitching on the balaclava and alpine hat also provides a nice touch.

All three hats retail for $60 USD, and the balaclava $70 USD. The full line is now available for purchase online at Thurston. You can check out the pieces in the gallery above.
