  • IO Interactive released the first trailer for its James Bond game, 007 First Light
  • Releasing in 2026, players control a young Bond on his recruitment mission
  • The game marks the franchise’s return after 14 years

IO Interactive, the studio behind Hitman, unveiled the first trailer for its upcoming James Bond video game, 007 First Light.

Set for a 2026 release, the game allows players to control a young Bond as he is recruited into MI6’s 00 program. The extensive three-minute trailer starts off with a brief background on the character, including his upbringing and how his recklessness can be seen as either an asset or a liability.

He’s then assigned to a high-risk mission that, if successful, will give him a 00 number. Bond meets a woman on the field, however, and he seemingly throws caution to the wind for her.

007 First Light will mark the first video game in the 007 franchise in 14 years. The last game to release was 2012’s 007 Legends, which allowed players to go on missions from different James Bond eras. These included Sean Connery’s in Goldfinger, George Lazenby in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Roger Moore in Moonraker, Timothy Dalton in Licence to Kill and Pierce Brosnan in Die Another Day. Daniel Craig in Skyfall was later added as a free DLC.
